Throughout this journey, I had seen how families were saved from breaking up, and more importantly, families spending more quality time together when critical illnesses struck.
It is these experiences that developed my strong belief of wanting to reach out to more people, and also grooming people of similar beliefs as I do. There is only limited reach with your two hands, but with others helping you, the reach is endless.
When did you join the industry?
I joined in Feb 2009. Back then, I knew what I didn’t like, which is regimental structure and paperwork. I also felt that I was not leveraging on what my strengths were, primarily enjoying connections with people.
What motivates you to be an FC then and also today?
So one day, I started questioning myself whether do I like my job back then. Turning my head to my seniors, I asked myself another similar question do I enjoyed being in their position. Both the answers were No.
And if I stayed longer, I would be wasting everyone’s time, resources, and career advancement opportunities for others since there were limited higher positions each time someone got promoted. Since then, I decided to join this industry for potentially higher income and being able to plan my schedule and time.
How has this career changed your life?
In the past, I’m pretty much a happy-go-lucky person. Living by the day and always reacting to changes in every aspect of life.
This career changed my perspective and attitude towards life. I started to appreciate life better, being grateful for every single thing that happened.
And I fully understand how making responsible decisions can help everyone and their families. I also learned that optimism is good with planning. Last of all, learning to be emphatic towards others.
