Financial Consultant Testimony

Darlton Ang
Prudential Financial Consultant
Darlton is known as someone who is happy-go-lucky. Previously he was working in a monotonous job and found that life became very stagnant. He struggled to find joy as he is an individual who is constantly on the go, looking for things to interest him. He realized that the career he was in was not meant to be. And so, the decision was made to move ahead and step out of his comfort zone. He decided to explore the path of being self- employed.
He decided to venture into creating a delivery courier team as a business. Things went smoothly until it reached a plateau point for him. As a business owner who was still a novice at learning about management and earning passive income, he eventually became a worker due to a lack of an entrepreneur’s mindset and skill set.

How would you describe life at DPG?
Fun, family place, and adventurous
The insurance industry was completely foreign to him. When he started, he had zero knowledge about financial planning and the tools involved in the trade. However, he gave himself room to grow and started educating himself and keeping abreast of the financial policies available. There has been countless life experiences and endless learning curves. As a planner with Prudential and DPG (Distinct Professional Group), I embrace the opportunities provided where with hard work and dedication, the opportunities are endless. A quote that keeps my energy high and consistent – “In life there are ups and downs. You can always take a rest but never stop heading for where you are supposed to go.”
How has this career changed your life?
When I first joined, I wasn’t expecting it to be so interesting. It’s a job that focuses on building relationships. I experienced the intensity of planning for someone else’s life, and how buying insurance saved a life. This platform allows me to constantly keep in contact with all my friends and family.
What advice would you give to people considering this career?
The ability to step out of your comfort zone would be the first step. Secondly would be training your mind to be constantly focused on your goals and direction. Lastly, in this career, you can take a rest to reset but never stop and give yourself excuses.
